NPOs need your help in rebuilding SA’s damaged communities

Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA) is appealing to all South African citizens, corporates, and other key stakeholders to assist registered NPOs in providing much-needed help to communities affected by the tragic violence that occurred this week.

As the country counts the terrible cost of this week’s unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng, many NPOs will have already started providing assistance where they can.

What makes this situation more challenging is that South Africa is facing battles on two fronts, with the COVID-19 pandemic still having a major impact across our nation’s communities.

More than any time ever, NPOs need your support now. This can take many forms — from monetary donations to helping on the ground and even virtual assistance.

Since 1997, CAFSA has helped NPOs get validated and ensure that they are properly registered so as to accept assistance from the likes of major corporations and philanthropists. In turn, donors have ensured that their funds help South Africans in the best way possible.

Therefore, we appeal to South Africans to contact us if you can provide any kind of assistance to these NPOs, whether monetary or in volunteering support. We can then connect you with the relevant organisation on the ground.

With Mandela Day on Sunday 18 July, there is no greater time than now to step in and help.

CAFSA is an independent non-profit organisation (NPC Number: 014-831) (PBO: 930002036) that promotes and facilitates effective giving, volunteering and social investment. CAFSA is also a member of the international Global Alliance of the Charities Aid Foundation, headquartered in the United Kingdom (CAF UK)

Please contact us at gill@cafsouthernafrica.org or visit our website at https://www.cafsouthernafrica.org/ if you are able to provide any kind of support or assistance.

YOU CAN HELP:

Donate to CAFSA's Emergency Fund to assist NPOs during the COVID-19 crisis

Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA) has launched an emergency fund to support local Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) during this challenging period.

With the economic and health challenges emerging from the COVID-19 crisis, thousands of NPOs are set to be impacted by funding shortages, which will result in a reduction or discontinuation of services and dedicated staff losing their jobs.

To keep these critical services going, CAFSA is mobilising support to make funding available to help NPOs who render essential services to the most marginalised individuals, groups and communities in our society.

We are calling on both individuals and corporates to donate. The relevant bank details for donations are listed below.

CAFSA will process all donations and ensure that due diligence, governance compliance and reporting are fully implemented. CAFSA will further ensure that all donations are designated to validated beneficiary organisations. Donors will also be issued with Section 18(a) certificates for income tax purposes.
