
GILL BATES
CEO, Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa
Gill’s thirty year career has largely been dedicated to the corporate social investment space. She has managed the trusts and foundations of companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, primarily in the financial services sector. Prior to this, Gill practiced clinical social work.
With valuable experience both in the corporate and non-profit sectors, Gill understands the pivotal role CAFSA plays as an intermediary in its work to support a strong and vibrant civil society in our young democracy.
Gill holds a BA in Social Work and Psychology, an Honours Degree in Education Social Work and a Masters Degree in Public and Development Management, all from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Meena Parbhoo
Finance Manager, Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa
With 35-years’ experience working in financial management, Meena’s career started in the corporate world and then moved to the non-profit sector. She has over 23 years experience as a finance manager for NPOs, where she has delivered unqualified audits annually for the organisations she has worked for.
Before joining the CAFSA team in 2018, Meena worked for ten years at the Sci Bono Discovery Centre, where she managed an annual budget of R1 billion in her capacity as senior finance manager.
Meena’s valuable experience is grounded in the importance of financial management and good governance in South African organisations. Meena holds an Honours Degree in Development Studies from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Randhir Rampersad
Programme Officer, Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa
With a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences from UNISA, Randhir has over 30 years’ experience in finance and project management within corporations, as well as relief and development organisations. Before joining CAFSA in 2019, Randhir had experience as an Audit Manager at the office of the Auditor-General, and he also managed medium-to-large projects in HIV prevention, education, food security and mining governance for various local and international entities. Randhir has been an independent contractor to EY (Advisory Division) on projects in IT, energy, hospitality, oil & gas and defence sectors.

Nonzwakazi Hlebo
Office Assistant, Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa
With experience working in office administration in South Africa since 1996, Nonzwakazi has worked with document scanning, microfilming and cataloguing in companies such as Vision One and MGX Holdings. Nonzwakazi also has experience assisting with admin work at the graduation office at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), including invigilating during examination time at the university. Nonzwakazi holds a National Management Assistant Diploma (N4, N5 and N6) from Roodepoort College.
