The recent unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng last month caused much despair and destruction. But one ray of hope has been efforts by South Africans — across various backgrounds and from a range of communities — to help in the clean-up and rebuilding efforts.
It is a reminder of how the spirit of ubuntu is what keeps us together. It is this same spirit that will take us forward as we seek to address the key challenges we face.
This is why CAFSA is proud to have supported the Sasol for Good programme. With the recent unrest, Sasol has already committed R10 million for impacted communities, as well as non-profit organisations and small businesses. This commitment is aimed at rebuilding our country.
The outpouring of support from the public and private sectors, as well as NGOs, has been most encouraging, but it is evident that much more is needed.
If you are still looking at ways to assist the rebuild campaign, the Sasol For Good employee volunteering initiative is an avenue to consider. Through Sasol for Good you can make a monetary contribution or donate non-perishable food and other basic items at designated drop-off points. Sasol For Good will ensure that all donations reach those who are in most need of assistance, through trusted partners.
