CAFSA facilitates #SasolforGood volunteering this Nelson Mandela Month

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela

This Mandela Month, CAF Southern African (CAFSA) was honoured to support Sasol with their #SasolforGood volunteering activities across the country, which took place on Thursday 14 July, ahead of Nelson Mandela Day today, 18 July 2022.

This was a reintroduction of in-person volunteering at Sasol – the first since the advent of COVID-19 – with Rise Against Hunger meal-packing activations at five locations across South Africa.

Almost 800 Sasol employees took part at sites in Sasolburg, Secunda, Sasol Place, Ekandustria and KwaZulu-Natal and the volunteers managed to pack over 119880 nutritious meal packs, which will provide 500 children with five meals a week for a year.

The #SasolforGood team also did maintenance at Mpohade Early Childhood Development centre in Zamdela, and Thorisong Primary School in eMbalenlhe.

Aligned with Nelson Mandela Month, these events signified Sasol’s ongoing care as champions for good. Not only on Mandela Day, but every day, as employees connect to social causes through their Sasol for Good platform.

CAFSA was proud to play a part in this important and meaningful work.

YOU CAN HELP:

Donate to CAFSA's Emergency Fund to assist NPOs during the COVID-19 crisis

Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa (CAFSA) has launched an emergency fund to support local Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) during this challenging period.

With the economic and health challenges emerging from the COVID-19 crisis, thousands of NPOs are set to be impacted by funding shortages, which will result in a reduction or discontinuation of services and dedicated staff losing their jobs.

To keep these critical services going, CAFSA is mobilising support to make funding available to help NPOs who render essential services to the most marginalised individuals, groups and communities in our society.

We are calling on both individuals and corporates to donate. The relevant bank details for donations are listed below.

CAFSA will process all donations and ensure that due diligence, governance compliance and reporting are fully implemented. CAFSA will further ensure that all donations are designated to validated beneficiary organisations. Donors will also be issued with Section 18(a) certificates for income tax purposes.
