Building Indigenous Philanthropy in South Africa - In 2010 CAF Southern Africa is leading an Individual Giving Campaign
CAF Southern Africa promotes and facilitates all forms of giving and investment in society. Our newest activity is a campaign to promote giving by individual South Africans.
Campaign Aim:
To increase the level and impact of individual giving to South African civil society organisations.
Civil Society Partners
The following civil society organisations have been invited to promote their causes during the pilot/launch phase of this project:
| ORGANISATION |
CAUSE |
| Dreamfields |
Youth /Sport |
| BioWatch |
Environment |
| Legal Resources Centre |
Human Rights |
| Act for Children: Soul City |
Health/Youth |
The concept of individual giving to civil society organisations will be promoted by CAF and the NGO partners, with campaign "messaging" focusing on the social development purposes of each organisation listed above.
After initial pilot phase of the project with above mentioned CSO partners, CAF intends to open this campaign to other organisations of civil society. The messaging will focus on "sectors" or causes rather than individual organisations. Organisations within each sector would be validated in accordance with CAF's usual due diligence procedures, and thus be eligible for funding through the programme.
The Campaign Programme will be published shortly on this website. For further details please contact Mbizo Edward Sibanda at msibanda@cafsouthernafrica.org
